Alegría (PSOE) calls for responsibility and unity from Podemos and Sumar to prevent the "ultra-conservative wave" from ruling

He admits that the results of 28M have not been good and replies to the PP if his program is only to "repeal sanchismo"

MADRID, 30 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Education and spokesperson for the PSOE, Pilar Alegría, has demanded this Tuesday that Podemos and Sumar reach a unity agreement for the general elections on July 23 and do so with "responsibility" to prevent the government from ruling in Spain. "ultra-conservative wave" that currently governs in Hungary or Italy or that did so until recently in the United States and Brazil, has compared.

"If we want to prevent this ultra-conservative wave from also reaching Spain, it is important that those parties on the left also exercise that exercise of responsibility and unity that would be very important in the face of the July elections," the socialist spokesperson urged in statements to TVE , collected by Europa Press.

He has reminded his partners in the Government that they have a deadline to agree to go to the polls together and has urged them to analyze the results of May 28, since both Podemos and the partners of Vice President Yolanda Díaz lost representation, not only the PSOE.

Alegría has offered the PSOE, which is going out to "win" the elections, as the "containment dam" so that the ultra-right does not govern - a "wave" to which it has alluded on several occasions - and the only option for After the general elections, progressive policies that "are favoring" the citizens can continue to be developed.

He has recognized that the socialist results in the regional and municipal governments "have not been good" despite being the first force in communities such as Extremadura and the Canary Islands, where the PSOE can lose these regional governments if there are pacts from other parties.

That said, Alegría has pointed out that the PSOE is already focused on the general elections, in which the Spanish will have the possibility to "choose and clarify" what type of government they want for the future.

And he recalled that thanks to the coalition Executive, more than 200 laws have been approved in this legislature, such as those on Education, Democratic Memory or euthanasia, criticizing the fact that the PP openly says that its objective is to "repeal sanchismo".

"We know that they want to destroy but we do not know the construction offer from the PP", has reproached the minister, who has established the PSOE as the defender of education, health or public pensions.

Alegría thanked President Pedro Sánchez for his exercise of "responsibility" in bringing forward the generals, acknowledging the poor results of 28M and enabling the Spanish to decide.

And as to whether he knew about the advance of the elections, he indicated that he found out when Sánchez announced it yesterday morning in the institutional statement from Moncloa. "It is not important if he knew it, what is essential is that the president took charge of what happened on election night on Sunday," he considered.
