Abascal considers Feijóo's conditions fulfilled to support his investiture: "A new stage opens"

The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, celebrated this Tuesday that Alberto Núñez Feijóo "has met" the "fair requests" that his formation had demanded from the 'popular' president in exchange for supporting his eventual investiture.

Abascal communicated to Felipe VI the "willingness" of his party to support the investiture of Feijóo, but "conditional" that the 'populares do not collaborate in raising a "sanitary cordon" to Vox or in attacks on his party.

Among his requirements, the Vox leader had asked the PP to publicly value the agreements signed for the governments of five autonomous communities and a hundred municipalities and work to "recover the neutrality of the institutions and democratic normality."

Hours later, the president of the PP has clarified at a press conference that he had to speak with Abascal to clarify the "misunderstandings" and "discrepancies" and has explicitly thanked Vox, a party with which the 'popular' have a "relationship of democratic normality", their support, stressing that they work together in various governments and assuring that their "collaboration" will continue.

"I am pleased that Feijóo has responded to Vox's fair requests," said the Vox leader in a message posted on his social network account X (formerly Twitter)--. A new stage of collaboration between two very different parties is opening , very distant, but capable of respecting each other and agreeing when necessary".

From now on, Abascal has conveyed his hope that "the enemies of the government agreements" between the two formations "refrain from endangering the construction of the alternative again" to Pedro Sánchez.

The relationship between PP and Vox became rare last week, during the constitutive session of the XV Legislature in Congress. The 33 votes that Vox can contribute to Feijóo have been in doubt since last week, due to the PP's decision not to cede a position on the Congress Table to those of Santiago Abascal, who understand this gesture as an attempt at a 'sanitary cordon' '. This circumstance felt bad within the party, which then highlighted the "obvious lack of generosity" of the 'popular', in contrast to its own, which had already secured its votes for Feijóo.

Abascal reiterated that they supported the 'popular' candidate to "recover democratic normality and the neutrality of the institutions" and denounced that leaving them out of the governing body of the Lower House was not "precisely that".
