Abascal answers the "autocrat" Petro: "They arrived with deception and they will leave with dishonor"

MADRID, 5 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has answered this Friday and branded the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, an "autocrat", after calling him an "unrepentant terrorist" and comparing him to the leader of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, some words that the Colombian president described last night as an "insult" to his country.

"No, you are not Colombia. Sánchez is not Spain. You are autocrats who arrived deceitfully and who will leave with dishonor," Abascal reacted in a message on Twitter, picked up by Europa Press, in which he directly quoted the tweet that published Petro late on Thursday.

It was on Wednesday, just after leaving the chamber together with the Vox parliamentarians before Petro -on a state visit to Spain- intervened before the Cortes, when Abascal stated in front of the media: "Petro is to Colombia what that Otegi is to Spain, an unrepentant terrorist".

He also criticized Petro's "past", which "cannot be hidden", stained with "blood" and which "has left pain and death in Colombia", at the same time that he denounced that he insulted Spain before the trip by talking about the yoke Spanish.

However, Abascal indicated at the time that he was not questioning Petro's election as president of Colombia, but rather his visit to Spain, insisting that Vox "respects" the Colombian people but tries to represent the "discomfort" of many of his fellow citizens.

To this, Petro replied a day later to Abascal, who reproached him for his words and made him ugly that he was insulting Colombia. "This is not an insult to me, it is an insult to Colombia, since the popular vote and the Constitution make me the representative of the Unity of the Nation," he said.
