The Government of Ukraine has ordered this Friday a ban on the export of firewood, assuming that it can be a key material to guarantee heating in the face of a winter that, in principle, will be marked by problems in the electricity supply.

kyiv already vetoed the export of coal in September and has now done the same with firewood. The Prime Minister, Denis Shmigal, has explained that in some areas, especially those close to the combat front, wood is already the main source of heating, according to the UNIAN agency.

Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have caused cuts in essential supplies, including in the capital, kyiv, where only a third of homes had had heating restored as of Friday morning.

The mayor, Vitali Klitschko, has assured on Telegram that 400 heating points have been installed continuously open to guarantee the well-being of the population. These enclaves also allow you to recharge electronic devices such as mobile phones.
