MADRID, 15 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

At least 73 migrants have died or are missing as a result of a tragic shipwreck off the coast of Libya, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on Wednesday.

It is estimated that some 80 people were traveling on board the boat who left the mainland on Tuesday with the aim of reaching Europe on what is one of the main migratory routes.

The organization has indicated on its Twitter account that seven survivors have been brought back to shore in "extremely horrible" condition. So far, the local police and the Libyan Red Crescent have confirmed that the bodies of eleven people have been recovered.
