U.S. Space Force will receive a silver medal in Mint military series

Janet Yellen, Treasury Secretary, has given the U.S. Mint permission to make silver medals in honor of the Space Force, the newest branch U.S. military.

T.V. confirmed Yellen's approval to CoinWorld Aug. 13, by T.V. Johnson is the chief of U.S. Mint’s office of corporate communication.

With the enactment of the Fiscal year 2020 National Defense Authorization Bill, the United States Space Force was created within the Department of the U.S Air Force.

The program will produce both 1-ounce and 2.5-ounce silver medals, along with bronze issues.

Before the extension, silver medals were awarded to the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard.
