ZAMORA, June 11 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of Spain has defended its "responsibility" to protect employment in rural areas, where the factories of Grupo Siro de Toro, Venta de Baños and Aguilar de Campoo are located.

This has been assured, in statements collected by Europa Press, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, who this Saturday visited the town of Zamora to participate in the assembly of the workers of this factory, who decide whether to accept or not. the feasibility plan proposed by the new investor.

Maroto has assured that it is a priority "to protect the jobs of the plants that are in areas of the demographic challenge", taking into account that in these areas "the labor alternatives are very few".

In the minister's opinion, it is "essential that reindustrialization reaches" demographically depressed areas, such as these three territories in Zamora and Palencia.

For this to happen, the workers must give their approval to the preliminary agreement reached between the Government of Spain and the investor, and which includes immediately enabling 80 million euros to pay suppliers and another 50 million to develop the Treasury and thus be able to pay the payrolls. "It is important that, in June's payroll, workers also receive May's," Maroto said.

For this reason, the minister has assured that "the future is in the hands of the workers", for whom she has asked for "tranquility" and that they have "all the information" before making their decision. "We hope that this pre-agreement will be the future for plants that are now bankrupt", she commented.
