SEVILLA, 3 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has defended this Friday that the shipment of 'Leopard' battle tanks to Ukraine is "necessary" and has ruled out that this decision could cause an "escalation" in the conflict because the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, "does not need any excuses."

In an interview on Canal Sur Television collected by Europa Press, Albares has been convinced that "Vladimir Putin is not waiting for any shipment of tanks to make the escalation" and has stressed that "precisely this armament is necessary because Putin does not need any excuse for an escalation"

In his opinion, the Russian president "does not need any excuse to wage an illegal, brutal, unjust, unjustified war, a war of aggression against a country that did not represent any threat to him."

"Unfortunately, Vladimir Putin does not need any excuse to escalate. He is going to do it whatever happens. We all want peace, but there is one person, him, who does not want it," he concluded.
