MADRID, 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has revealed this Monday that he will ask all member countries to dedicate a stadium to the memory of Brazilian footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento 'Pelé', who died last Thursday at the age of 82.

"Pelé is eternal. Of course, from FIFA, we will pay homage to 'O Rei' as he deserves. Now we are going to ask all the federations in the world for a minute of silence in each game. What I can say is that we will also ask the 211 countries that put the name of Pelé to a stadium. In all the countries of the world there should be a stadium with the name of Pelé", he confirmed upon arrival at the wake of the Brazilian star in the city of Santos.

The highest representative of the world soccer governing body believes that this measure will help his memory last. "Young people all over the world, future generations, have to know and remember who Pelé was, the joy he brought to the world. In 20, 30, 50 years, when children score goals in the Pelé stadium and ask who he was, they will know that he was a great footballer who moved us," he said.

Thousands of fans continue to say goodbye to Pelé in the stadium of his lifelong club, FC Santos. With 77 goals in 92 international matches, Pelé remains the Seleção's top scorer, tied with Neymar.
